Great Turnout for the Needs Assessment Presentation
Many thanks to everyone who attended the "Aging in Newton: A Community Needs Assessment" presentation on Tuesday, January 7. More than 200 people joined us for this hybrid program.
Caitlin Coyle, Director of the UMass Boston Center for Social & Demographic Research on Aging (top photo, far left), led the presentation, which highlighted the top three concerns reported by older adults (finances, housing, and transportation) as well as other needs and interests.
Mignonne Murray, Director of Older Adult Services (bottom photo, middle), explained how the assessment will inform programming and services offered at the Cooper Center when the new facility opens this fall. Mignonne also shared how staff are already meeting some of the needs identified in the assessment.

We're deeply grateful to the UMass team, to the thousands of residents who responded to the survey researchers sent in 2023, and to the dozens of residents and stakeholders who participated in focus groups.
