The City of Newton offers residents aged 65 or older a special municipal parking sticker that is valid for use at municipal parking areas in Newton, with some restrictions.
Below are instructions for the three options for requesting your sticker.
Option 1: Online – NewGov, the City's online permitting system
Visit the online NewGov portal at https://newtonma.portal.opengov.com and click on the “Older Adult Services/OA Parking Sticker” button. If you have a NewGov account, log in. If you haven’t used NewGov before, you will need to create a new account to begin the process. Click here to view instructions on creating a NewGov account.
NewGov online requests have three steps. The initial submission of your documentation includes uploading pictures of your current driver's license and vehicle registration. Once your request is submitted, we will review and, if approved, send you an email with step two, online payment.
When payment is received, we will proceed with step three and process the sticker(s). You will receive an email once the stickers are ready to pick up. Please note: a service fee of 2.99% + $.99 service fee per transaction for credit cards and a flat fee of $2.25 for electronic checks are charged by the NewGov payment vendor. If you prefer to pay in person or without fee, please use Option 2 or 3 below.
Once Payment is received in NewGov, you will receive an email from NewGov advising you that we will email when the sticker is ready. When your sticker is ready you will receive a final email that it is ready for pick up including our pick up hours and location.
Option 2: In Person Drop-Off or Drop-In:
On Friday, November 21 we will be pausing briefly while we move to the Cooper Center for Active Living located at 345 Walnut Street, Newtonville. Beginning Monday, December 8 we will begin issuing stickers while you wait or you may drop off and pick up at a later time. Please bring your drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of residence in Newton (if you have recently moved).
Option 3: Mail – You MUST provide the following 4 items:
1) A copy of your driver’s license showing age 65 or older.
2) If the address on your driver's license is not a Newton address, proof of current Newton residence is required, such as a copy of your current tax bill or a utility bill.
3) A copy of your current vehicle registration. Commercial vehicles do not qualify for a sticker.
4) Either a check made out to the City of Newton or indicate in your packet that you will provide cash or check at pickup. Be sure to include your contact information.
