The Purchasing Department is responsible for the implementation and administration of all City’s requisitions and bids, ensuring that purchase of goods and services are made in accordance with State law and City Ordinance. The City's procedures are open, fair, competitive, and obtained at the lowest possible cost. The department promotes the use of Commonwealth of Massachusetts contracts when appropriate and encourages participation of minority, local and women-owned businesses.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Purchasing Department is to ensure that supplies, equipment and services required for the functioning of municipal departments are delivered in a timely manner, at the best price and in compliance with applicable regulations. The Purchasing Department also includes the Print Shop and Mailroom which is committed to producing quality printed materials and the timely processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
