City Hall Ponds Sediment Removal Project

This project will remove accumulated sediment from the ponds in front of City Hall bordering Walnut Street, Commonwealth Avenue, Homer Street, and the City Hall front driveway. This helps reestablish the ponds’ capacity and maintain the aesthetic and passive recreational values of the ponds. All removed sediment will be disposed of at an off-site area.

  • Work will begin on or about February 20th and is expected to continue until the end of May. (The schedule is subject to weather and other work conditions.)
  • The hours of construction will usually be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. (Some after-hours work may be necessary)
  • City Hall Drive will be closed during these hours at The Commonwealth Avenue entrance during construction hours. Visitors to City Hall may enter via Homer Street where more limited visitor parking will be available. Additional parking may be found along Commonwealth Avenue, Homer Street and Walnut Street for visitors and staff.
  • The west side sidewalks along City Hall Drive will remain open and access to City Hall will be maintained during construction.
