The mission of Newton’s Public Buildings Department is to maintain and improve City buildings to provide safe, accessible, and sustainable facilities that appropriately support City departments, programs and services for residents and visitors. The department is responsible for approximately 2.9 million square feet of space in 84 municipal and school buildings.

Charging Stations
- We have installed 4 level 2 charging stations at Newton North High School in March 2021: 2 at the Lowell Ave Lot and 2 at the Walnut St lot. Data sheets found here.
- We have installed 4 level 2 charging stations at the Main Library.
Energy
Gas and Electricity Savings
- The new electric contract is for the period 11/2020 through 10/2024 and has a fixed price of 9.29 cents. See savings reports here: Small Accounts, Large Accounts
- The new gas contract goes from Nov 2019 through Oct 2023 at a substantial savings from the previous contract. See savings report here.
