The Christina Street Bridge Project will create a new pedestrian and bicycle connection between Newton and Needham by replacing the long-closed former rail bridge over the Charles River.  

The project will restore an important missing connection in the local and regional transportation network, creating a safer and more accessible route for walking and biking between neighborhoods, trails, transit, and open space.

The new bridge will reconnect communities on both sides of the river, improve access to local destinations, and create a new public asset that supports everyday travel, recreation, and long-term mobility for residents in Newton and Needham.
