Goals
Create an outdoor classroom and community park in an unused space next to Cabot Elementary School, near a housing development for seniors. Based on the children's own designs, the park has brick paths, granite seating, benches, a birdbath & bird house, sundial, and a trellis.
2018-19 Note: The City's Public Buildings Department is currently managing the major renovation and expansion of Cabot Elementary School. When that project is complete, Public Buildings is committed to relocating and reconstructing Cabot Community Park.
Funding
| $68,270 | CPA funds appropriated & spent (recreation) |
| $10,230 | Cabot PTO funds, plus volunteer maintenance |
| $2,500 | Teacher donation (Disney grant) |
| $1,000 | School Dept funds |
| $82,000 | Total Project Cost |
Note: CPA funds cannot be used for maintenance. The Cabot PTO made committed to permanent, volunteer maintenance, in recognition that the design they proposed was too complex for adequate maintenance to be funded through Parks & Recreation Dept. operating budget.
