Goals:

The proposed apartments at 1314 Washington Street will be in three adjacent buildings, including two new construction buildings and the renovation of the existing (former Santander) bank building. Renovation of the bank building will include partial demolition in the rear and include retail space on the ground floor. The project is near the West Newton Commuter Rail station and adjacent to the 553, 554, and 556 bus routes. It will comprise of 4 one-bedroom, 6 two-bedroom, and 2 three-bedroom units reserved for households earning 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI); 4 studio, 12 one-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom, and 4 three-bedroom units  reserved for households earning 60% of AMI; and 3 one-bedroom, 5 two-bedroom, and 2 three-bedroom units reserved for households earning 80% of AMI.

Note: 1314 Washington is currently in the predevelopment phase and has not yet submitted a OneStop application for funding to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). A local funding match is required to obtain EOHLC funds. Beacon Communities, the developer for this project, anticipates submitting a OneStop application to EOHLC during the next funding round in Fall 2026 once they have obtained matching funds.
