Flutter is a temporary art installation on Newton park lands conceived in 2022. The goal of this project is to enhance public spaces and create connections throughout the community. Butterflies have lives of transformation and resilience, an appropriate reminder for us in our current climate. The painted butterflies are installed on park lands across Newton.
Newton’s public art projects aim to not only enrich the community and improve our quality of life but to ignite the imagination, encourage thought, and to prompt dialogue with one another. Flutter is a whimsical addition to the City's common spaces and invites the public to see the world around us in new and unexpected ways.
In 2026 you can see the butterflies at the pollinator gardens in Wellington Park, City Hall, Cold Spring Park and in the open space at Kennard Park and 1294 Centre St.
