The Outdoor Adventure Program at Nahanton Park will focus on outdoor activities and environmental awareness. In a “hands on” manner, participants will enjoy a mixture of learning, working and playing together while discovering how to enjoy nature’s gifts without harming them. Outdoor Adventure is for children entering grades 2 - 6.

Outdoor Adventure runs Monday through Thursday: 9:00am – 1:00pm. We will use Friday as a rain date if needed

2026 Dates Include (updated due to school makeup days):

Session 1: June 29- July 9
Session 2: July 13 - July 23
Session 3: July 27 - August 6
Weekly sessions are also available for each of the above weeks

Sample Daily Schedule

9:00-9:15 Arrival/Morning Games

9:15-10:00 Fishing (twice a week) or Nature Activity

10:00-10:45 Nature Themed Activity

10:45-11:30 Canoeing (twice a week) or Nature Activity

11:30-11:50 Lunch

12:00–12:45 Field Games

12:45 Prepare for Dismissal

1:00 Dismissal

This is an outdoor program and children are encouraged to wear sunscreen and bug spray each day.

Check out the Specialty Camps at Nahanton Park if you are interested in extending your camp day. Specialty Camps run from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Children signed up for both Outdoor Adventure and the Specialty Camp at Nahanton Park will be supervised by camp staff in between the two programs.

Registration begins on Wednesday January 28, 2026 for Newton residents online at www.newtonmarec.com Non-residents can register starting March 1st if space is still available.
