It is the responsibility of the individual that obtains the permit to make arrangements for all inspections.
Please note: A final inspection is required for all permits.
Building Inspections
Building inspectors conduct SAME-DAY inspections; If the job is complete and ready for the inspection.
- You must call before 8:00AM on the day you want the inspection
- Leave a voicemail, if the inspector does not answer
- The inspector will return your call by 9:30AM and schedule a time for that day

Electrical Inspections
Electrical inspectors schedule inspections IN ADVANCE. You have (2) options to request inspections.
Option 1:
- Request inspection through the online permitting portal. You must login into your account- https://newtonma.portal.opengov.com/login
Option 2:

Arrange inspection by telephone. You will leave a voice message, and the inspector will return your call with a date and time for inspection.
