The City of Newton values our employees. Good physical, mental, dental, and emotional health help provide a strong foundation for us to be the best citizens and employees we can be.

Eligibility

• Employees who work more than 20 hours per week on a regular and recurring basis, and eligible dependents.

Effective Date of Coverage

• Coverage is effective on your date of hire, unless you have coverage elsewhere and can show proof of coverage.  You have 30 days from this date to make your initial benefit elections.

• Premiums will be deducted retroactively back to this date, so your initial premium payment may be larger than expected.

Benefit Plan Year Health, Dental, and Vision:

• Annually July 1st to June 30th

• Open Enrollment Health, Dental, and Vision

• Coordinated by the Human Resources Department each May 

• Changes take effect July 1st

• Qualifying Event (you have 30 days from the date of the qualifying event to make a change, otherwise you must wait for the next Open Enrollment. Some examples of qualifying events include):

• Marriage/Divorce

• Loss or Gain of other coverage

• Birth or Adoption
