Up to $2,000 available to support community-driven climate mitigation and resilience projects.
Climate action and community resilience cannot be achieved by government alone. They require creativity, care, and leadership from residents, neighbors, students, and community groups across Newton.
The City and The Village Bank’s Climate Action Microgrant Program provides up to $2,000 (per application) to support small, community-driven projects that reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and engage the community in climate action. Whether your idea is big or small, experimental or proven, individual or collaborative, we want to help you make it real.
This program is rooted in a simple belief: fighting climate change is a shared responsibility—and a shared opportunity. Resilience means more than infrastructure. It means neighbors helping neighbors, communities adapting together, and local ideas turning into local action.
The City is not just implementing climate policy: we are inviting you to build it with us.
Project proposals should advance one of the program's three goals:
- Climate mitigation: Projects that directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Climate resilience: Projects that strengthen our community’s ability to prepare for, recover from, and adapt to climate change.
- Climate engagement: Projects that bridge the gap between climate awareness and action, fostering the adoption of sustainable behaviors.
Apply anytime; applications are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis.
