Kim serves as the Senior Preservation Planner in the Historic Preservation Division, where she guides residents through the application process, advises on preservation projects, and supports the Auburndale and Chestnut Hill Historic District Commissions, as well as the Newton Historical Commission.

Kim has always had a passion for architecture, but during graduate school, she developed a deep appreciation for mid-century design, a defining feature of Newton’s architectural landscape. She is excited to collaborate with the commissions, learning from their expertise and helping to tell the story of Newton’s rich history.

Before joining Newton in February 2025, Kim worked as Preservation Planner for the Town of Brookline and as a private consultant on projects involving historic preservation and responses to climate change. She holds a Master’s in Historic Preservation from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science in History from the University of Tennessee Southern. She also contributed to projects at the Preservation Institute of Nantucket.

Outside of City Hall, Kim enjoys hiking with her wife when the weather allows and spending time with their cat.
