West Newton's main thoroughfare, Washington Street, provides easy access to the Massachusetts Turnpike and the village has an MBTA Commuter Rail Station. In addition to the retail and service businesses, West Newton has a significant amount of the Citys manufacturing use. A local movie theatre and many restaurants lend vibrancy to the center in the evenings, and the West Newton Advisory Committee provides input on community development projects.
Mayor Warren would like to know what you are thinking and how he can improve municipal services and enhance the quality of life in your village. This survey is the first step in a new initiative by Mayor Warren to increase dialogue between Newton residents, businesses, and City Government. Based on your responses, we will hold community meetings to discuss your topics of interest and develop joint strategies to address your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and comments!

West Newton Neighborhood Advisory Committee - Neighborhood advisory committees (NAC) in Newton's four CDBG target neighborhoods work with housing and community development staff on the development of the five-year Consolidated Plan and the Annual Action Plan. Their input is critical on identifying the needs in their neighborhood and developing priorities, strategies and projects that address those needs. The committees also serve in an advisory capacity for the implementation of projects in their neighborhood.
Envisioning West Newton and Washington Street - In Fall 2011, a class of MIT graduate urban planning students studied West Newton Village and the Washington Street corridor extending to Brookside Street.
