Sports Museum Curator To Speak

The monthly Veterans Service Center Open House will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, January 5, at the Veterans Service Center, 345 Walnut Street in Newton.

We have an exciting guest speaker for this event, Richard Johnson, who has been Curator of the Boston Sports Museum since 1982 and who has written several books about athletes, including a book about the Boston Braves and also, “The Players of Cooperstown.”  Dick will bring with him some very special items which are usually on display at the Museum which is located on the fifth and sixth floors of the TD Banknorth Garden.

We ask you to please R.S.V.P. for the event January 5, since Dick plans to bring something for each veteran to take home that night and he’d like an accurate count of how many people will be in the audience.

Please notify Director of Veterans’ Services Seth Bai if you plan to attend, by calling Seth at 617-796-1092 or by emailing sbai@newtonma.gov.

If you are unable to join us for the event, consider dropping by the Veterans Service Center, 345 Walnut Street, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30-3:30 p.m., on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:00 p.m., or on a Friday from 7:30-12:30 p.m.  As you may know the Center provides veterans of all ages and branches of the service a place to congregate, socialize, and access a wide range of services including employment, education, housing, financial, legal, health, and childcare.
