The next drop-in hours for the Newton Veterans Center will be Tuesday, November 5th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. We are pleased to welcome Boston College Athletic Director Brad Bates as our guest speaker. For more information on the Veterans Center, please see below.
Recently, the City of Newton opened a first of its kind, one-stop regional veterans center at the American Legion Post 440.
This innovative center represents a partnership with the American Legion Post 440, who will house the new center, federal, state, city, non-profit and private organizations to maximize our capacity to serve our veterans community.
The regional center is designed for veterans of all ages and branches of the service. This Veterans Service Center is designed as a one-stop location - a place where veterans of all ages can come to access a range of advisory services such as education/job opportunities, housing/transportation/childcare options, and tax/financial/legal/health advice, veterans appreciation, as well as socialize and meet fellow veterans.
The first event held at the new veterans center was a job fair that featured 30 employers representing a variety of industries.
Two additional events were held in the weeks ahead: a socializing and drop-in services event on Saturday, April 6th and on Tuesday, May 7th a Grand Opening event was held.
The veterans center welcomes veterans from any age and any branch of the service. We hope to grow this center based on the needs and interests of our veterans community. If you are a veteran in the region, we want to hear from you. Your ideas, participation and ongoing commitment will be critical to the success of this facility. To register to become a member of the center, which includes a one year membership to the Post 440, please fill out this form. Computer stations will also be available at each veterans center event.
