What we are:

Day camp for children 1st to 6th Grade
Registration begins on Sunday January 27, 2013 for Newton Residents; March 1 for Non-Residents
One week sessions beginning July 1, 2013

The City of Newton has offered summer day camp programs since 1982 when the first four week pilot program was held at Albemarle Playground/Horace Mann
School. The popularity of this program led to the formation of Centre Acres and more recently Acres in the Falls, Auburndale Station and T-Ville Trails.

Program

Each week offers a different theme. Many of the activities revolve around the theme. Some popular themes include; Carnival Week, Show Week , Olympic Week & Entertainment Week, A newsletter is sent home with every child on Monday’s detailing the week’s events.

Site

2013 Centre Acres will be held at the Ward School, 10 Dolphin Rd, Newton Centre 02459.

Field Trips

Field Trips are scheduled throughout the summer. Parents will be notified prior to the trip. All campers will be required to wear their camp shirt on days of a trip.
Trips will be determined closer to the summer.

Swimming

Recreational swim will be held at Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake is located at 16 Rogers Street in Newton Highlands. Bring bathing suit and towel daily

Directions

Ward Elementary School:   From Newton Centre take Centre St north to Ward St. Turn right on Ward St. Take first Left on Fellsmere Rd then immediate Right on Mandalay. Dolphin Rd is on the Left.

All activities are modified to meet the ages of those participating. Some of these activities include

Staff

The Centre Acres Staff are comprised of professional men and women, college and high school age students who met the qualifications required by the State and the Parks and Recreation Department. The staff is trained and certified in First Aid and CPR.
