Reserving a Playing Field

Application Process:

Applications are available beginning February 1 of any year at the Newton Parks and Recreation Office, 246 Dudley Road, Newton, MA 02459, or by calling 617-796-1500 during office hours of 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and extended hours Tuesday evening until 8 PM.

Applications are not accepted until February 1 for picnic, field permits or special event permits. Those applications received before February will be processed last.

Applications must have the appropriate, Non-Refundable Fee, (non-refundable only if a permit is issued), if no permit is issued, or permit is denied, fees will be returned. Checks should be made payable to the City of Newton.

Only Newton Residents may obtain a Picnic or Field permit or Special Event Permit and their signature implies that they take full responsibility for the group they are obtaining a permit for.

School and Youth Leagues Field Application

The above application is for School Department Use and use by the following youth organizations(Newton Mustangs, Newton Girls Lacrosse, Newton Youth Lacrosse, Newton Girls Softball, Babe Ruth, Newton Senior Baseball, American Legion Post 440, Newton Girls Soccer, Newton Youth Soccer, Newton Little League, Newton South East Little League, Newton Senior League)  all others are to use the Field Permit Application Link.

Field Permit Sessions

The Parks and Recreation Department offers fields for general athletic sport use by Newton residents only on a permit basis, weather conditions permitting, first paid first served. Field Permits are divided into three sessions:

Session One:
April 1 through Mid-June(Permits issued approx. March 31)

Session Two:
Monday after Father's Day through August 19 (Permits issued approximately June 10)

Session Three:
First Weekend after Labor Day through November 15 (Permits issued approximately August 31)
