Thomas Casilear Cole (1888-1976)
Thomas Casilear Cole was the son of the Reverend Thomas Lafayette Cole, Rector of Saint Mary's Church in Newton Lower Falls from 1901 to 1909. Cole graduated from Harvard University in 1905 and studied at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and the Academie Julian in Paris. His painting Old St. Mary's, Newton Lower Falls, was used to illustrate an article that he wrote about the church, published in New England Magazine in November 1909. A second painting from the article, showing a Memorial Day parade in front of the church, has been lost.
