The mission of Newton Cares is to raise awareness and identify strategies to assist in creating a
healthy, empowered community that promotes emotional wellbeing across the lifespan.

Online Anonymous & Confidential Mental Health Screening
The City of Newton offers online mental health screenings at http://www.mentalhealthscreening.org/screening/NEWTON. The screening is anonymous and confidential. After answering a few questions, the user will receive feedback, educational materials, and treatment resources if necessary.
QPR Suicide Prevention Training
Learn how to respond to someone in distress

Question, Persuade, Refer

QPR is a simple educational program that teaches ordinary citizens how to recognize a mental health emergency and how to get a person at risk the help they need. 

Participants will learn how to:
Recognize the warning signs of suicide
Offer hope
Get help & refer

If you have a Newton group interested in training please email newtoncares@newtonma.gov and include the following information:

• Group name
• Number of people in group
• Preferred meeting day and time
• Demographics of group (ages, professions etc.)

In addition, please include if your group has a regular meeting space available for the training and if there are items ready to use including: a projector, screen, sound, laptop and chairs.
