The Newton Fire Department will be conducting tests on all of the City's 2,700 fire hydrants, beginning Monday, October 11th.
It is recommended that homeowners avoid running their washing machines when the testing is occuring, and they should note that they may experience some discoloration in the tap water.
All testing will occur between 9:30 and 11:30 am, and then again from 1:30 to 4:30 pm.
The testing will continue until all hydrants have been tested, roughly 4-6 weeks.
Sandwich boards will be placed at intersections in effected neighborhoods the evening before testing will take place.
