The mission of the Inspectional Services Department is to ensure a safe built environment for the citizens of Newton.

- Enforce all applicable state and local codes and ordinances in a professional, fair, and equitable manner
- Provide accessible and accurate building records and information on all structures in Newton
- Issue permits in a timely manner
- Inspect new and old structures quickly and effectively (Building, Gas, Plumbing, Electric)
