Keeping Newton Beautiful

In an effort to enhance the quality of life, Mayor Setti Warren has started a new beautification program, coordinated by the Division of Environmental Affairs in the Department of Public Works.

Mission Statement:
To initiate, promote, coordinate and implement quality beautification projects within the village, city street, and open space areas. To improve the appearance of Newton for people who have invested their lives here and for people visiting in conjunction with citizens, schools, community-based organizations, and businesses.

May 20, 2014  The Department of Public Works, in collaboration with Green Decade Newton, is seeking volunteers to walk around Newton’s neighborhoods, while adhering “recycling education stickers” onto all residential green bins during the spring and summer months.
Medication Take Back Day
September 12, 2014  The Newton Police Dept, along with the Newton Health and Human Services Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will host a medication take back day on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 2pm.
