The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City of Newton. Records kept by the Office of the City Clerk include but are not limited to vital statistics (birth, marriage, and death certificates), Burial Permits, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) filings, Business Certificates (DBA’s), the records of the Newton City Council, appeals from decisions of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board, and filings from City Boards and Commissions. The City Clerk is the Chief Elections Official for the City of Newton and is responsible for the annual Census, and oversees the City Archives.
