The Programs and Services Committee reviews items relating to the Human Services Department, Library, Recreation Department, Law Department (except for claims), Veterans’ Services Department, Licensing Commission, City Clerk, Clerk of the Board, Rules of the Board, Election Commission, Health Department, City Physician, Newton Public Schools, Community Schools, Newton Housing Authority. As well as matters relating to the inter-relationship of the School Committee and Newton Public Schools with other areas of City government.

Proposed Leaf Blower Ordinance Information

#31-15     PROGRAMS & SERVICES COMMITTEE proposing an ordinance to limit the use of leafblowers.
#31-15(2) PROGRAMS & SERVICES COMMITTEE requesting to amend Chapter 20-13, Noise Control, relative to time restrictions on the use of yard, garden or grounds maintenance equipment.

THESE ITEMS WILL BE TAKEN UP IN THE PROGRAMS & SERVICES COMMITTEE ON JULY 15, 2015 AT 7:00PM IN ROOM 211 OF CITY HALL.
A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE TOWN OF ARLINGTON WILL BE ATTENDING TO DISCUSS ARLINGTON'S LEAF BLOWER REGULATION PROCESS.  REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE LANDSCAPING COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED TO PROVIDE INPUT TO THE COMMITTEE AS WELL.  THE COMMITTEE WILL NOT BE VOTING ON THESE ITEMS AT THIS MEETING.

ALL COMMITTEE MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN ARE PUBLIC MEETINGS AND ANYONE MAY ATTEND.  THIS IS NOT, HOWEVER, A PUBLIC COMMENT MEETING.

ANY WRITTEN COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED REGULATIONS MAY BE SUBMITTED TO KDEAN@NEWTONMA.GOV  THEY WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO THE BOARD AND BE PART OF THE RECORD, AS HAVE ALL PAST CORRESPONDENCE.
