Meets on the Wednesdays following the first and third Monday of each month.

The Programs and Services Committee reviews items relating to the Human Services Department, Library, Recreation Department, Law Department (except for claims), Veterans’ Services Department, Licensing Commission, City Clerk, Clerk of the Council, Rules of the Council, Election Commission, Health Department, Newton Public Schools, Community Schools, Newton Housing Authority; as well as matters relating to the inter-relationship of the School Committee and Newton Public Schools with other areas of City government.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CURRENT NOISE ORDINANCE, WHICH INCLUDES REGULATIONS ABOUT USE OF LEAF BLOWERS, IS STILL IN EFFECT.  NO NEW REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN VOTED ON BY THE FULL CITY COUNCIL YET

LEAF BLOWERS ARE CURRENTLY ALLOWED FROM:

 7:00AM-8:00PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

9:30AM-8:00PM ON SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND LEGAL HOLIDAYS.

 

PROPOSED LEAF BLOWER ORDINANCE INFORMATION

THE PROGRAMS & SERVICES COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE LEAF BLOWER ORDINANCE AT ITS SEPTEMBER 21ST MEETING. 

THE FINANCE COMMITTEE MET ON NOVEMBER 14TH AND APPROVED AN AMENDED VERSION OF THE ORDINANCE

THE FULL CITY COUNCIL VOTED TO POSTPONE THE VOTE ON THE ORDINANCE UNTIL JANUARY 17TH.
