How much does it cost?
Each program has a different fee associated with it, generally ranging from $40.00-$60.00 per session of approximately 8 lessons.  Specialty classes or classes/programs requiring specific equipment may have higher fees associated with them.

I want to use the facilities during the day, why can't I?
The Indoor Recreation Facilities at NNHS and NSHS are first and foremost schools.  Education and security and safety of the children in the care of the Newton Public Schools is the primary concern.

When can I swim?
Swimming hours vary, Lap Swim Program runs for three sessions of approximately 8 weeks.  Registration is required for each session.  The number of participants is limited to a total of approximately 40 each session, this includes the participants that joined in October for all three sessions up front.   Lap Swim hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00PM to 9:45PM, Saturday 12Noon to 2PM and 4PM to 5:30PM, Sunday 1PM to 3PM and 6PM to 7:30PM.  When Newton Bluefish have a home swim meet, lap swimming is cancelled the second half of the day.

When do the facilities operate?
The Parks and Recreation Department is a user of each facility.  Newton North Indoor Recreation Operates Monday through Thursday from October to Middle of May.  Weekends from November through April.  The facilities at Newton South High operate on Sundays January through mid March.  School Athletic use and Physical Education use precludes use at other times during the year.

Where are the Facilities Located?
Newton North Indoor Recreation Facility uses the athletic facilities at Newton North High School - Walnut Street - Newtonville - 617-796-1537

Newton South Indoor Recreation Facility uses the athletic facilities at Newton South High School - Brandeis Road - Newton Centre - 617-796-1529

Why do programs get cancelled?
The recreation department is a user of the Newton Public School Athletic Facilities at each site.  We are subject to the needs of each athletic department and from time to time the schools will schedule games or have tournaments that supercede our use.  We try and give as much notice as possible but keep our calendar visible for each area and up to date with activities by day.
