Step into Art

A two-day program for children (Grades 1 - 5)

March 14 & 21, Sundays
Day 1: March 14 - Bringing Art to Life
Session A: 12:30 am - 2:30 pm or Session B: 3 - 5 pm Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street, Newtonville, MA 02460 An interactive slide show introduces children to great French and American paintings from the MFA, Boston. Hands-on art activities follow, inspired by the works they have just seen.

Day 2: March 21 - Art "Face-to-Face"
Session A: 12:30 - 2 pm or Session B: 2:30 - 4 pm
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Fenway Entrance In this guided tour, children build on the observations of the works they have just learned about. The program ends with sketching in the museum.

Heartbreak Hill Youth Race
Sunday, April 18, 2010, Noon - 3 pm
Newton City Hall

One mile race up and down Heartbreak Hill.  Ages 9 - 90. Must pre-register at www.newtoncivicpride.org. First 500 registrants get a free t-shirt.  All participants receive a race medallion, a seedling tree and a free ticket to pre-race pasta/pizza party on Sat, April 17th, 5:30 - Newton City Hall.
Highlights include Pat the Patriot's Mascot, Face painting by the Revolution Cheerleaders, and fabulous raffle prizes.
