Position Title: Public Buildings Commissioner
Salary: To $109,000
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Mayor and the COO, the Public Building Commissioner will assist the Mayor, the Board of Aldermen (BOA) and the community in prioritizing all capital projects requiring public money, including the oversight of new construction, complete building renovations, maintenance and involvement in the transition from work considered maintenance to that requiring capital investment. In addition, the Commissioner will provide critical project oversight on all major projects and maintain openness and transparency with the Mayor, the BOA and the community on project status, expended costs, design and/or operational issues encountered and expected completion.
Education : Bachelor's degree with a major in Urban Planning, Engineering, Project Management, Finance. Massachusetts Registered Architect or PE and advanced degree (MPA or MBA) preferred.
Qualifications : 8-10 years of management experience in large scale project management and/or construction. Municipal and/or government experience is required as is experience with complex negotiations.

Position Title: School Traffic Supervisor
Department: Police
Salary: $8193.00 per school year
Responsible for the control of motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic in school crossing areas. The Traffic Supervisor observes and reports conditions or incidents that present a potential safety hazard for the children.
Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per week, 43 weeks per year.

The City offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package to all employees working twenty or more hours per week.
Medical/Dental: We offer three options for healthcare that are paid eighty percent by the city and twenty percent by the employee. We also offer two options for dental where the employee pays fifty percent of the premium.
Life Insurance: We provide Basic Life Insurance where both the City and the employee pay fifty percent. Supplemental Insurance is also available to all benefits eligible employees at 100% of the premium.
Employee Retirement System: The amount of 9% of the first 30k of an employees gross weekly wages is deducted from salary for retirement. An additional 2% is deducted for wages exceeding that for retirement.
Flexible Spending Accounts: Health Care Accounts allow tax-free, out-of-pocket costs to be reimbursed for eyewear expenses, dental expenses, etc. Dependent Care Accounts allow tax-free costs for day care for children or adult care for elders.
Educational Assistance: Educational Assistance is available through various City of Newton Training Programs and Tuition Reimbursement Programs in conjunction with the applicable union contract, as well as Boston College Vouchers for Graduates and Undergraduates.
